    ooc: Go to www.tumblr.com/help

type “suicide” in the search bar, and the first picture will pop up.

Click on “Pass the url of a blog on to us”.

The second picture will pop up.

Fill out the form, and an email is sent directly to tumblr, who will be able to track their IP if necessary, and look at their page to see exactly what’s going on.

This is the best way to help those who have turned off all methods of communication on their blog.

((Thank you for putting this together. Passing it along.))

We need to reblog the crap out of this thing.

its interesting to note, a few weeks ago someone had brought this up and how if you had missing e installed, that a message popped up saying “sorry, we can’t resolve issues with missing e” and the contact tumblr prompt would never pop up, regardless of missing e had anything to do with it.

HOWEVER it seems like they backed out on that snafu and now you can send messages freely.

maybe they actually listened to us for once. or maybe its just coincidence. either way, glad to know they can set that pettiness aside for something that’s a real problem.

Tree Symbolism
The evidence for tree-worship is almost unmanageably large. Trees have played an important role in many of the world’s mythologies and religions, and have been given deep and sacred meanings throughout the ages. Human beings, observing the growth and death of trees, the elasticity of their branches, the sensitivity and the annual decay and revival of their foliage, see them as powerful symbols of growth, decay and resurrection. The most ancient cross-cultural symbolic representation of the universe’s construction is the world tree.
Examples include the Yggdrasil in Norse mythology, the Egyptian Sycamore sitting on the threshold between life and death, and the Kabbalah Tree of Life. There is no doubt that the icon reaches down to the psyche of human beings with its figure of branches reaching towards heavens but with roots deeply grounded on Earth.
“Hail, thou Sycamore Tree of the Goddess Nuit! Give me of the water and of the air which is in thee…“ -Egyptian Book of the Dead
The tree, with its branches reaching up into the sky, and roots deep into the earth, can be seen to dwell in three worlds - a link between heaven, the earth, and the underworld, uniting above and below. It is also both a feminine symbol, bearing sustenance; and a masculine, phallic symbol - another union.
For this reason, many mythologies around the world have the concept of the World tree, a great tree that acts as an Axis mundi, supporting or holding up the cosmos, and providing a link between the heavens, earth and underworld.
The world tree is also a central part of Mesoamerican mythologies, where it represents the four cardinal directions. Other examples of trees featured in mythology are the Banyan and the Peepal (Ficus religiosa) trees in Hinduism, and the modern tradition of the Christmas Tree in Germanic mythology, the Tree of Knowledge of Judaism and Christianity, and the Bodhi tree in Buddhism. In folk religion and folklore, trees are often said to be the homes of tree spirits. Historical Druidism as well as Germanic paganism appear to have involved cultic practice in sacred groves, especially the oak. The term druid itself possibly derives from the Celtic word for oak.

    Story time with Catherine

    taiwanroc:

Okay so this is a folk tale of how the Zodiac (the 12 animals of lunar years) came from and why the cats always chase the rats

Oh and I’m no expert in drawing animals. Don’t unfollow me.

    Alright! Here we go!

Thousands of years ago, the cats and rats lived in harmony.

Until one day, the Jade Emperor of Heaven wanted to know which animal was the fastest creature on Earth.

    Thirteen animals answered the call.

They were monkey, snake, pig, horse, dog, goat

And rabbit, dragon, tiger, chicken, cattle.

And of course, rat and cat. At that time, they were friends.

The race was scheduled on the morrow.

BUT THE NEXT MORNING, THE RAT DIDN’T WAKE THE CAT UP.

The rat sneaked away to the racing field while the cat slept dead to the world.

    Anyways, the racing competition started.

The sly rat knew that he couldn’t win the race for he was too small and legs too short.

So, the rat climbed up to the cattle’s back when the race started.

No one noticed the rat for he was too little, not even the cattle noticed the rat.

The cattle was supposed to win the first place. But in the end, the rat leaped off the cattle and reached the finish line before the cattle.

After the race, people in China had each year a symbolizing animal according to the result of the race.

    But the story’s not finished.

The cat woke up after the race. And he was furious that he wasn’t in one of the lunar year animal symbols.

Apparently, the cat considered it as something more than a race.

    So…

    FRIENDSHIP OVER!!!!!

And the cats try to kill the rats ever since.

And they live not so happily ever after.

    THE END

Nope! You’ve been here before.

Add color and DEAR GOD WHAT FRESH HELL have I created.
How art.

ogod I’m here now ;_; been trying to figure out how i want to line art and color these give away sketches they are friggin sketches why am i being so anal and why can’t i figure out how to do sketchy but pretty line art likelakgaslkgajklgaslkgsgfffffff

Because when you do the sketch, you are (usually) much more confident and loose in your lines. You don’t add those minor details either, and there is a scientific explanation to why sketches look better. For short, it has to do with how our eyes work and that when you look at something, the eye cannot take in every details. It is physically impossible, so creating works with too much details (often) looks unreal. I personally enjoy sketches much more than purely refined lineart because there’s so much more soul in sketches.
On, and movement. I cannot stress this enough. The more you overwork something, the more stiff it’ll be because you are erasing the initial movement and strength in your lines.
This is why overworking is bad, unless you really know what you’re doing.
The cure for this?Like everything else, practise.
